In accordance with the sustainability principles of the Group, all subsidiaries are trying to use, where possible, "green" suppliers. The guidelines in the field of procurement, consistent with the Code of Ethics and the Model 231, representing the company's reference to the activity of choice of suppliers. Waste Italy, to ensure the effective implementation of the service and the monitoring of significant environmental aspects, it informs its suppliers and subcontractors of the specific control requirements laid down in its Quality Management System and Environment, translating the same into contractual requirements. The evaluation and monitoring criteria take into account a scale of supplier criticality to the process / service and the potential impact on the environment.
The purchasing department set out for 2015 to introduce a process of suppliers’ qualifications. The procedure is based on the preliminary analysis of personal information, workforce, economic-financial information, mandatory registrations, certifications and on the subsequent qualifications calculated by attributing a score, usually on a scale of 1 to 5 to measure technical performance, delivery performance and the performance on documentation.
Starting from this first step which identifies the economic and regulatory performance, in 2015-2016 we will be able to further qualify suppliers through an assessment of their adherence to the 4 areas covered by the 10 United Nations Global Compact principles.: human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. Such rules will be initially applied to a representative sampling of strategic suppliers and then extended to all suppliers.
